Faculty Advisory Council confidentiality policy

The members of the Faculty Advisory Council (hereafter, “FAC Members”) have agreed to the following confidentiality policy for the 2015-16 academic year.

FAC Members will not disclose any of the following:

1) Comments made by any participants in FAC meetings,

2) The substance of discussions in FAC meetings,

3) The topics discussed or scheduled to be discussed at FAC meetings, and

4) Email or other communications by FAC Members to FAC Members concerning the

business of the FAC.

Only the explicit authorization of the entire FAC — including the President and the the Provost — will be sufficient to waive confidentiality with respect to a particular matter that is covered by the foregoing rule of confidentiality.

The mere fact that a matter otherwise known to the public becomes the subject of discussions in the FAC does not prevent FAC Members from discussing that matter outside the FAC, so long as the FAC Members do not disclose the substance of discussions in FAC meetings or communication between FAC Members relating to the business of the FAC.

Any participant in an FAC meeting who is not a FAC Member will be subject to the same confidentiality requirements as FAC Members.

Notwithstanding the general prohibition against disclosure, the co-chairs will submit to the University Senate a written report describing the general nature of business that the FAC handled in the 2015-16 academic year.  The co-chairs will submit that report at the end of the 2015-16 academic year.
